Charlotte Wise Wellbeing – Pilates Classes

“Pilates benefits everyone. It gifts us time and opportunity to take care of ourselves in the present and to invest in our future.”

Charlotte

I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2003. Pilates is a functional exercise system that increases our awareness of our body and our posture. Pilates helps us develop strength, endurance and flexibility in all the muscles and connective tissues of our body’s core – in short, anything that helps support our pelvis, spine and shoulder girdle.

This enables us to enjoy more controlled and balanced movement and experience more comfort and ease in our daily activities. We can rehabilitate specific injuries and work to harmonise our imbalances.

Pilates nurtures your body and your mind. Bringing awareness to our breath helps us not only with relaxation but in concentrating to connect breath and movement you are fully present and focused. You are helping yourself to function optimally and with cohesion.

HOW I WORK WITH YOU
I teach classes that flow smoothly through considered movement sequences. Each class encompasses exercises to work on stretching, strengthening, lenghtening and mobilising . Anatomy is my passion.

I talk to your body, heightening your awareness of the areas we’re targeting, and communicating how to work effectively and efficiently.I lead you into and out of each exercise, guiding your breath pattern to be at its most efficient.

I manage the pace of the class so that it’s challenging while also offering options for varying levels of intensity or experience.

I empower you to tailor your class as best serves you on the day. You’ll finish feeling that your body is well worked, and your mind is calm.

I teach with kindness and compassion, but I will challenge you so that you get the most from your class.

ONLINE PILATES CLASSES

Thursday mornings at 9.30am

From my home to yours.

Join me for a 60-minute, live-streamed Pilates class. Interaction, connection, community and core.

You can access recordings of these live-streamed classes for up to one week as best suits your schedule. You can also visit the library for inspirational Pilates classes at any time, 24/7.

1:1 PILATES SESSIONS

Book a bespoke 1:1 session online or in person.

You might be working to overcome an injury or health issue, or maybe you’re new to Pilates and need one-to-one input prior to joining my group classes. This is recommended; Pilates exercises performed without the correct muscle recruitment offer fewer benefits.

These sessions allow me to analyse your posture, recognise your strengths and weaknesses, and familiarise myself with any injuries you may be compensating for. I make sure you’re getting the most out of your time and effort.

IN-PERSON PILATES CLASSES
Tuesday evenings at 7pm
at Foundry Fitness, Teddington, TW118UE.

Classes are small, interactive and accommodate individual needs. To reserve a space in this friendly and intimate class EMAIL ME please.

My online schedule will continue alongside my in-person teaching.

I am delighted to announce dates for my ‘in-person’ Pilates and Yoga retreats in 2023. These fabulous 5-night retreats in Provence, France combine Pilates, Yoga and so much more.

"I’ve experienced many different Pilates and yoga instructors, but what sets Charlotte apart is her extraordinary ability to communicate. Her deep knowledge of her craft, underpinned by a thorough grasp of anatomy, combines with her ability to explain exactly what each posture is intended to do, and what you can expect to feel if you’re doing it correctly – particularly important for online classes. Classes are varied, challenging and well prepared. She’s a caring teacher, you feel you have her individual attention.”

Lizzie

“I love your Pilates classes – they do me a lot of good. As you know, I’ve had lower back pain since my 30s (I’m now 64), and only since doing Pilates with you has it got better. I can honestly say that most of the time I’m pain free now – it’s such a revelation to be able to move without discomfort. Keep doing what you are doing. I’m a big fan!”

Sarah T

“I think you (Charlotte) know how much I love your Pilates class! I like the way you offer a basic level of movement, but also give options to make it more challenging for those who feel like it.”

Kathryn

“Over the years you have acquired a brilliant teaching style. It shows how you really want your students to gain the best experience, and you seem to sense when to push or let be.”

Liz S

“Five years of attending your (Charlotte's) Pilates and yin yoga classes in person and online have taught me an enormous amount about my own body, how to harness and develop core strength, improve my posture, and establish better breathing techniques. The latter is vitally important, as I have a chronic lung condition (bronchiectasis). Your classes are increasingly important in helping me manage the condition and maintain my health.”

What Pilates means to me…

I began teaching Pilates in 2003 and today it remains the one exercise modality that I believe benefits absolutely everybody, regardless of age, health or fitness level.

A strong and functional core, along with awareness of posture and breath, serves everyone well.

I’ve been teaching Pilates in one-to-one sessions and group classes since 2003, and I integrate Pilates into my work with my personal training clients. I discovered this beautiful discipline as a runner. It radically enhanced my running efficiency, but more importantly, it helped prevent and hastened recovery from the running injuries I experienced. Pilates continues to support me in the activities I enjoy now, from yoga to surfing.

A strong and functional core, along with awareness of posture and breath, serves everyone well.
“In ten sessions, you’ll feel the difference. In twenty, you’ll see the difference, and in thirty, you’ll have a whole new body”
Jospeh Pilates
